Garrett Hill is a 2025-2026 scholarship recipient
Garrett is a 2025 graduate of Washington County High School in Washington, KS. He intends to pursue a career in emergency medicine by first completing a degree in nursing at the University of Kansas. Garrett hopes to return to a rural community like his own to provide excellent care to his patients through both his learned and innate skillset.

Garrett has been working up the medical ladder by completing a CNA certification and now awaiting to complete the boards for his EMT certification. In addition, he has been working as a Patient Care Technician at the Hanover Hospital and 911 Dispatcher for the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Matthew Kearn is a 2025-2026 scholarship recipient
Matthew is a 2025 graduate of Linn High School in Linn, KS. He intends to pursue an Associates of Applied Science in Building Technology by first completing the Plumbing and HVAC certification program at Fort Hays Technical North Central in Beloit, KS, and then the electrical program. Matthew plans after college are to start his own business and work in a rural community.

Matthew began his journey into his chosen field by diving into an internship at B&W Electric in Hanover, KS, where he then was able to continue working and discover a passion for the trades.

Sydney Grauer is a legacy scholarship recipient for the
2021-22, 2022-23, and 2023-24 academic years
"Receiving this scholarship was a tremendous blessing that allowed me to focus on my studies without having to worry about the financial burden going to college. It gave me the opportunity to fully dedicate myself to learning and developing the skills I needed to become a nurse. Now, as a new graduate working in the operating room I am incredibly grateful for the support that made this possible. This scholarship gave me the freedom to pursue my education wholeheartedly and reach my goal of becoming a nurse.."

Sydney is a 2021 graduate of Marysville High School in Marysville, KS.
She graduated from the nursing program at Hutchinson Community College May of 2024 and participated on the women's Cross Country and Track teams throughout the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons.

Julisa Martinez was a scholarship recipient for the
2020-21 academic year and Fall 2021
"I would like to greatly thank the Gerald G. Ricard Scholarship Committee from the bottom of my heart. Without their help, I wouldn't have had the chance to advance forward in my future, be at college, meet many wonderful long-lasting friends, learn so much about my career as a future nurse, etc. I honestly will never get tired of thanking them because they have helped change my life for the better. I was very lucky to win a scholarship, to which I'm very proud of and try my hardest every day to keep my good grades up. Thank you very much for making my dream come true!"

She attended Cloud County Community College and completed her nursing studies there.
